The first newspaper article appeared in the Fitchburg Sentinel on Nov, 10, 1990. The article titled "A Warmth From Her Art." tells us that Shirly Flax uses red paint as a base for all her work. She says that it brings 'a sense of warmth' into the painting. Ms. Flax who was formerly homeless sells her painting to raise money for the homeless.
2. The second newspaper article appeared in the Montachusett T & G on Nov. 14, 1990. This article is titled, "Fitchburg Artist Survives Tough
Times to Find Honor" and tells us that Shirly Flax was being honored, by Mayor Jeffrey A. Bean, as the Artist of the Month.
