Political card for the election of Robert Greenwood, the mayor of Fitchburg. He ran for election to the US Senate in 1936 as a member of the Democratic party. In the September primary he came in second to James Michael Curley, who became the official nominee of the Democratic party. Curley later lost to the Republican nominee Henry Cabot Lodge Jr who became the US senator for Massachusetts from 1936-1944. The card is 3.25" by 5.5" and printed in black and white. The front is a photo of Greenwood with the basic slogan "Greenwood for U.S. Senate" printed at the bottom. The reverse includes a reminder to vote in the primary on Sept. 15 and a short message to voters from Greenwood titled "for honest representation." |
