The newspaper article tells us that Peter Nikitas was a Fitchburg Police Officer who was killed in a freight train accident under the Water Street Bridge on Aug. 27, 1978. The clipping shows the unveiling of a portrait of Mr. Nikitas by his two children, Peter Jr. and Nicole. The portrait was painted by Nancy Turcotte of Gardner, a portrait artist for 23 years. A ceremony was held at the Police Station for this unveiling. |
