A family by the name of Gibson settled what is now Pearl Hill Road in Fitchburg in the hopes of mining for gold and silver. The year was about 1740 and Indians were still active in raids on settlers. The mines were never opened but the Gibsons stayed on and raised a family. The author of this manuscript lived in one of the houses built by Isaac Gibson.
