Photos by Claire (Rousseau) Murchie taken of the Christmas Trees on display at the Fitchburg Historical Society in December 1991. There are 32 color photos of the many different types of decorations on the Christmas trees. The Christmas Trees include: the historic ornaments tree, the small baskets tree, the toys tree, the birds, animals, and small wooden items tree, the cookie cutter tree, the red bows tree, the simply gold tree, the silver and blue tree, the bells tree, and the toy vehicles tree. Also included: A red ornament tree that includes two toy firetrucks with ladders extended; the toy firetrucks from the Phil Jordan collection. A Scandinavian tree with gingerbread men, red yarn bows, apples, and a small bunch of wheat on top. An It's for the Birds tree with corn, popcorn, and peanuts. A corn dryer tree which is an authentic blacksmith-made metal tree on which ears of seed corn where placed to dry. The corn ears formed the shape of a Christmas Tree. A traditional tree with ornaments and lights shaped like candles. Claire and her husband Everett graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1937. They both became professional nature and history photographers. |
