The opening page notes: Mes Memoires (My Memories) The Lord/Cote Genealogy and Reflections on My Eighty-plus Short Years. Written with love for Chris, Stacy, Jason, and Erica. By their Dad (aka - J. Charles E. Lord). Started 11/22/01 - Thanksgiving Completed 11/24/11 - Thanksgiving Last Edited 11/22/12 - Thanksgiving The author notes in the Preface: I was born Joseph Charles Edward Lord on April 15, 1932 at 173 Daniel St. (later renamed One Columbus St.) in Fitchburg, MA. My parents lived on the third floor of a six-family that my grandfather had built at the beginning of the 1900's. It was in the Cleghorn section of Fitchburg, carved out of a corner of St. Joseph's parking lot and directly across from the Church. In those days, Cleghorn was home to some 10,000 French-Canadians - so I was told. Even if an exaggeration, there were enough French-Canadians when I was a kid that those who didn't speak French needed interpreters. The book goes into some Acadian History from the 1600's. It discusses the early genealogy of the Laure, or Lord, family. The family moved to Fitchburg in 1885 as it provided an attractive French community and jobs in the mills along the Nashua River including Iver Johnson's company.
