  16. Book titled: "Memoires of The Last Laure" "The Road Best Traveled" by Joseph Charles Edward Lord (J. Charles E. Lord). First Printing 2012. The opening page notes: Mes Memoires (My Memories) The Lord/Cote Genealogy and Reflections on My Eighty-plus Short Years. Written with love for Chris, Stacy, Jason, and Erica. By their Dad (aka - J. Charles E. Lord). Started 11/22/01 - Thanksgiving Completed 11/24/11 - Thanksgiving Last Edited 11/22/12 - Thanksgiving The author notes in the Preface: I was born Joseph Charles Edward Lord on April 15, 1932 at 173 Daniel St. (later renamed One Columbus St.) in Fitchburg, MA. My parents lived on the third floor of a six-family that my grandfather had built at the beginning of the 1900's. It was in the Cleghorn section of Fitchburg, carved out of a corner of St. Joseph's parking lot and directly across from the Church. In those days, Cleghorn was home to some 10,000 French-Canadians - so I was told. Even if an exaggeration, there were enough French-Canadians when I was a kid that those who didn't speak French needed interpreters. The book goes into some Acadian History from the 1600's. It discusses the early genealogy of the Laure, or Lord, family. The family moved to Fitchburg in 1885 as it provided an attractive French community and jobs in the mills along the Nashua River including Iver Johnson's company. From his Obituary at: https://www.tributearchive.com/obituaries/20009334/Joseph-Charles-Edward-Lord PRINCETON – Joseph Charles Edward Lord passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 12, 2021. He was 88. Born in Fitchburg on April 15, 1932, Charlie was the son of Henry A. and Olive (Cote) Lord and lived the last 56 years in Princeton. Charlie honorably served his country during the Korean War as a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant in NATO Command. He was a 1949 graduate of St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg. Graduated from Fitchburg State College with a bachelor’s degree. Charlie received a master’s degree from Columbia University and a certificate of advanced graduate studies from Boston University. He was awarded a doctorate degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He retired from Middlesex Community College after forty years of teaching. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra (Morey) Lord; his four children, Chris Lord and his wife Trudi of Natick, Stacy A. Lord and her partner, Laura Marotta of Worcester, Jason E.
